What is the journey?

At Shelter Cove we firmly believe that our spiritual walk is a journey. God starts us all at one place and has plans for us and our walk with him. One of the ways we can continue to grow in our faith is through our generosity. We also know that God is doing some incredible work through the ministry of Shelter Cove and we want you to be a part of it.

Someone that joins the journey is someone who loves Jesus and Shelter Cove and commits to giving to God generously through Shelter Cove. The easiest way to join the journey is to give at least $20 per week though an online, recurring, scheduled donation.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO JOIN?

Someone who has joined the journey is someone who loves God and Shelter Cove and commits to give generously to God through the Cove. The best and easiest way to Join the Journey is to give at least $20 per week, through an online, recurring, scheduled donation.

WHERE DID THE IDEA COME FROM?
Our leadership team birthed the vision for Joining the Journey. By joining the journey, you are personally taking a step toward making Shelter Cove’s vision a reality.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
The ministries of Shelter Cove are offered based solely on the generosity of the Shelter Cove family. We rely on those who love Shelter Cove and call the Cove their church home to participate financially so that we can continue to advance our mission of reaching and raising authentic followers of Jesus. Those who have joined the journey are the people who generously support this mission and vision.
HOW DO I JOIN?

There are three easy ways to join the journey:

  1. Find a Give Kiosk in our lobby! Ask an usher or staff member if you need help.
  2. Visit sheltercovelive.com/give and set up an online, weekly recurring gift.
  3. Simply call our team at 209 567-3200 and they will be happy to help you.
CAN I JOIN FOR LESS THAN $20
Absolutely! We created the Journey of Generosity as a first step for those thinking about giving for the first time.

At Shelter Cove, it’s not about the money or the specific dollar amount. We don’t want something from you, but rather, we want something for you. We want you to experience the blessings that the Bible promises when we live out a life of generosity!

Prayerfully consider how much God is calling you to give and trust Him with that amount. For some, it may be $20 or more per week, for others it may be $10 per week, $5 per week, or even $1 per week. Ultimately, it’s about taking a first step and trusting God with our finances.

HOW CAN I CHANGE MY GIVING?

You can view and edit your giving schedule at any time by visiting sheltercovelive.com/give. For assistance or to make changes over the phone, call us at 209 567-3200.

CAN I JOIN BUT NOT GIVE ONLINE?
Online giving is the best and easiest way to give at Shelter Cove. However, we recognize that some prefer to give through check, through their bank, or by giving cash in a giving envelope attributed to their name.

If you give generously to God through Shelter Cove, you are a on the journey! If you are interested in the convenience of giving online, consider signing up for an online, recurring, scheduled donation.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH GOD'S WORD

The Bible has much to say about generosity and managing our finances God’s way. In Acts 20:35, Jesus says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

In Malachi 3:10, the Lord is quoted on the topic of generosity, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take in!

Try it! Put me to the test!” The heart of the Join the Journey initiative is not what we want from you, but instead, it’s what we want for you!

We want you to have the blessings that God promises in His Word when we live out a life of generosity.

WHAT ABOUT TITHING?
At Shelter Cove, we believe what the Bible says about generosity: That we are called to be obedient by giving back a portion of what God has blessed us with — specifically, a tithe equal to 10% of our gross household income. However, we recognize that for some, due to personal financial circumstances, tithing may be just too big of a step at this time. That’s why we created Join the Journey as a first step for those who may be thinking about giving consistently for the first time. Our prayer is that by joining the journey, you would begin to experience the blessings that God promises when we learn to trust Him with our finances, and that over time, we would live out the life of generosity that He calls all of us to.
IS ONLINE GIVING SAFE?

Yes! Keeping your information secure and confidential is one of our highest values. Because of this, we can confidently say that online giving is the BEST and EASIEST way to give.

IS THIS TAX DEDUCTABLE?
Yes! Shelter Cove is classified as a public charity by the IRS and contributions to Shelter Cove are tax deductible.

FROM OUR LEAD PASTOR

Jeremy Oldenburger

Thanks for your interest in Shelter Cove! We’re passionate about “Reaching and Raising Authentic Followers of Jesus” and that all starts with a visit.

One of my greatest opportunities as Lead Pastor is to connect with people — people who are on the journey of life. For some, their experiences give them hope to keep running. For others, they are searching … searching for more out of life. Finally, there are those whose journey has left them broken, hopeless and wondering how they will continue on.

Wherever you are on life’s journey, we would love to come alongside you and walk the road together. God has a good plan for you and your life, but He didn’t create you (or me) to do it alone.

God’s plan has always been for His people to gather together, to worship Him, and to study His Word … walking life’s journey together, and we’ve got some great ways to do just that.

From classes designed to help you understand God, His Word and how you fit into His plan to Life Groups (smaller groups of people that meet in homes throughout our city weekly) to ministries for every age and stage of life, we’re a place where everyone is on the journey of life.

Thanks again for being our guest!

God bless,

Jeremy Oldenburger
