In a world where culture constantly tells us we should be more about ourselves, Scripture tells us the exact opposite. John 3:30 says “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Rather than promoting self, God’s glory should be at the forefront of our thoughts and actions.

The things we do each day tell the story of who we are truly glorifying: ourselves, or God. Everything from taking care of our families to doing our jobs, from social media posts to serving at church, and countless other seemingly insignificant moments in each day will tell the world whether we strive for more of me…. Or more of God.

Today, let’s pray John 3:30 together, asking God to strip away any impure motives for the things we do, and in its place to fill us to overflowing with humility and His love. May we seek refinement in the process of letting go of ourselves so that the evidence of Christ in our lives would continually increase.
