WHY WE BAPTIZE
A Public Step, Not a Private Feeling
Baptism doesn’t save you. Salvation is God’s gift, received by grace through faith in Jesus alone, nothing more, nothing less (Ephesians 2:8-9). But once you’ve trusted Jesus, He asks you to take a simple, public step of obedience: to be baptized. Going under the water and coming back up pictures what’s already happened in your heart, the old life left behind, and a new life raised up with Christ (Romans 6:3-4). It’s how you tell everyone watching, “I belong to Jesus now” and it’s part of what He commanded His followers to do (Matthew 28:18-20).

What is baptism, and why do we do it?
Baptism is a public declaration that you’ve decided to follow Jesus. Being lowered into the water and raised back up pictures what already happened when you trusted Christ, the old life going under, and a new life rising up with Him (Romans 6:3-4). Jesus commanded His followers to do this (Matthew 28:19), and the church has practiced it ever since as one of the clearest ways to say, “I belong to Jesus now.”
What if I don’t feel ready yet?
Baptism was never meant to wait for perfect readiness or perfect faith, it’s simply the next step after you’ve trusted Jesus for salvation. If you’ve believed in Him, you’re ready. If you’re still working through what you believe, that’s exactly what our pastors are here to talk through with you before you take this step.
How do I know if I should be baptized again?
If you were baptized before you’d personally trusted Christ as an infant, or as an older kid or adult who was going through the motions without really believing, we’d encourage you to be baptized now as a genuine expression of your own faith. Baptism follows salvation; it’s your story of what God has done in you, not a tradition to check off. If you’re not sure which describes you, reach out and a pastor will gladly talk it through with you.
When can I be baptized?
We hold baptisms about five times a year during our weekend services, at roughly the same weekends each year. Register below for the next opportunity, and we’ll take care of the rest, no experience or special preparation needed, just a decision to follow Jesus.
